FIRE AND ICE - Love a #cliffhanger ending? Watch out, this one will floor you! #vampire #erotica #keywest #colorado #giveaway

The  LOVE/HATE cliffhanger ending
The giveaway

Noel Tierney thought she’d have enough time before the predicted storm to make it to her holiday retreat, but the snow hit sooner than expected. Caught unprepared on a treacherous pass, poor visibility and icy conditions lead to a crash. She lay immobile in her vehicle, stranded in a ditch in the most remote leg of her journey.

A faceless hero comes to her rescue and Noel has no choice but to wait out the blizzard in her rescuer’s unique cabin nestled in the woods. Everything about Grayson James peaks her curiosity—his valor, air of mystery and most of all, undeniable attractiveness.

For three days and nights, passions are unleashed and unexpected emotions are brought to life. When the storm breaks, Grayson vanishes into thin air, but not before revealing startling news that leaves her questioning her sanity.

Fast forward years later and Noel is in the southernmost part of the United States. She’d come seeking solace after her husband’s tragic death, but what finds her in Key West is more than she ever anticipated.

In the sultry summer, her unbridled winter’s ecstasy resurrects.

And so does the Vampire.

"In the depth of winter I finally learned that there was in me an invincible summer.” -Albert Camus

Fire and Ice released on 10-10-2014 and the reviews began coming the day after. I didn't expect the cliffhanger ending to have had such a disparity in reaction.

Here are some of the reviews:

"Maya is a brand new author for me and I bought the book after seeing numerous reviews complaining about the ending and now I understand  what they are all talking about. However, I wasn't upset with it. I think the end hits you so hard because you don't expect it. I have to think that there is going to be a follow up book to this that will explain the ending and make it all brilliant when it's all said in done. If this does not have a follow up book, then she has a lot of explaining to do."  -B&N Customer

"I am a fan of Maya DeLeina. I've read all of her books. I particularly like the Ambrose Heights series. Her last book, "Blood of Luna," had a Twilight Zone type ending but you were left with an understanding of what happened. This book? first thought at the end was "WTF??????" I'm not even sure if the ending is a cliffhanger. I would not call it a HEA ending either. I guess this book will have to churn around in my head for a while, but I think we are supposed to come to our own conclusions. Still....I will eagerly await DeLeina's next book and hope I won't feel quite so gobsmacked at the end."  -Amazon Customer

"I loved this book!! Noel finds herself heading to the mountains for the Christmas holidays only to get caught in a severe snowstorm. Wrecking into the ravine and being rescued by the handsome Grayson is just the beginning of a hot mind blowing sex weekend. The attraction is instantaneous between the two but Grayson tries to hold back not wanting Noel to find out he is a vampire and run away. Finally giving in to this attraction sets life events in motion. The weekend ends and Noel is heartbroken that Grayson is gone.Noel goes home never forgetting Grayson. Life continues and heartbreaks happen. Will Noel ever find happiness again? Where is Grayson? What does life have in store? Will they find each other again? All questions that will be answered in the book!! Loved this ending and can't wait for the next book! "-Amazon Customer

"I saw the trailer for this book and immediately purchased. I wasn't quite expecting a book to be split up like this. I didn't like it at first but after completing the entire book, I think how this was set speaks to the clever and creative nature of the author. Without giving away the ending, all I can say is WOW! I did not see that coming and have no clue where this is leading." - B&N Customer

"I must start by saying I had really high hopes for this book I watched the YouTube trailer and that made me preorder the book, but I am a little disappointed. I had a problem with how Noel wanted to have sex with Greyson after knowing him for 5 minutes and how comfortable Noel was with Greyson a complete stranger who rescues her after her car accident. Not to mention the sex was bareback and Noel never asked about disease or a condom. I know this is fantasy but come on really? I felt the story was a little rushed, but it held my interest enough to keep me reading. I figured this was going to be the first book in a series therefore I was expecting a cliff hanger and boy it was a cliff hanger, one that made absolutely no sense and had me scratching my head. Most cliff hangers leave you wanting to know what is going to happen next and you hope the author doesn't take a year to release the next installment. But with this series if the next installment isn't released in the next month I will totally forget about it."  -Amazon Customer

* * * *

I had a few emails from readers asking me to explain what happened in the end...what's going on with Noel. If I explain, then it'll ruin what is in store for the next book. Yes, there IS a next book. And yes, I meant for the ending to be like...WTF? I mean, did you ever see the series finale for The Sopranos? OMG! That was a true WTF moment for me and I loved it, even though I knew there would not be another episode to explain.  It had my mind going in all different directions of what the ending meant, what exactly happened. I remember even having a debate with friends on the ending.

In the end, everyone has an opinion and I respect that. I accept that readers will either hate or love the ending. But one thing is for sure...I meant for the end to leave you scratching your head like, what? If you like it great, if you don't, I'm sorry...but rest assured there is something going on in the story of Fire and Ice that will be revealed and you never seen coming.
